UIS Repair Services Rates and Policies

REPAIR UNDER WARRANTY (IBM/Lenovo/Apple Computers & HP Laser Printers)
Diagnostics (parts and labor) No charge
Diagnostics under CrimsonPlus (parts and labor) No charge
Replacement of defective Hard Drive including Operating System Re-Installation No charge

Please note:

  • Any repair performed that is not covered under manufacturer's warranty or CrimsonPlus contracts will be billed to the customer.
  • Software, including operating system and consumable are not covered under manufacturer's warranty.
  • Batteries are covered under the manufacturer's warranty for one (1) year from date of purchase.

REPAIR OUT OF WARRANTY (IBM/Lenovo/Apple Computers & HP Laser Printers)
Diagnostics (minimum charge of $35 applies even if unable to duplicate error) $35.00
Diagnostics under CrimsonPlus (parts & labor) No charge
Labor Rate (not applicable to hard drive repair) $100.00
Travel Fee (Departmental, affiliates & partner school) $50.00

Please note:

  • Diagnostic fee will be paid in advance and is non-refundable.
  • If you elect to have equipment serviced within 30 days of diagnostic, the diagnostic fee is applied to the first hour of labor.
  • Labor Rate does not include replacement parts.
  • Beyond 1 hour labor is billed in 15 minute increments.

Installation of new/replacement hard drive (OS installation additional charge) $40

Contracts

UIS-Technology Services partners with Schools, Departments and Affiliated Institutions to provide responsive, customer focused repair service for hardware at or below market prices. Technology Services strives to save members of the Harvard community time and money by offering one stop shopping for all your technology needs.

CrimsonPlus Plan*
During and/or after the manufacturer's warranty, any problem that requires labor or replacement parts can be costly. To mitigate the cost of your repairs, purchase the CrimsonPlus Service Plan. For the highly competitive cost per unit/per year we will:

  1. Cover cost of all parts, labor, and travel for Lenovo and Apple computers and HP laser printers
  2. Provide four business hour response time; after 2 pm, response will be next business day
  3. Manage all parts:
    • Ordering
    • Shipping and receiving
    • Tracking
  4. Provide on-site repair
  5. Provide free estimate for diagnostic
  6. Provide free installation for hardware and memory
  7. Provide quarterly service reports provided for 50 or more computers

We provide Professional Services- Our on campus technicians are vendor authorized. All warranty repairs are performed with original manufacturer's parts.
